Don’t believe in Santa Claus? You might change your mind when you meet Duane Meyer. Friendship Village Tempe Executive Director, Cole Marvin, says Meyer definitely knows how to “rock the Santa thing.”
About three years ago, the employee of the local retirement community, clean-shaven at the time, was convinced to take on the role of Santa. He grew the beard and put everything he had into the role, taking part in everything from gift-giving for employees’ children to marketing events. Residents stopped calling him Duane, and he’s now known around the community simply as “Santa.”
On December 2, at 7:00 p.m., Duane will don the red suit yet again for a special sing-along event for the children of Friendship Village team members. This will be an extremely visual event with colorful decorations and lots of children.
