It’s time for Operation Chill Out. This week’s blazing heat is breaking records, and the Salvation Army is stepping in to help the community stay cool.
In times of extreme temperatures, it is critical that people drink lots of water to keep hydrated, as this can be the difference between a good day and a trip to the hospital.
Starting on Monday, there will be several First Alert Action Days as a result of the scorching temperatures across the state, and while many can stay inside and enjoy air conditioning, not everyone has that privliege. The Salvation Army wants to make sure the homeless population is as comfortable as possible during this heat wave, but they are in need of donations.
They are passing out numerous cases of water a day, and they have set up drop off locations for anyone interested in donating. This includes the Salvation Army Hospitality House and any of the five local Naughton’s Plumbing stores.
Every little bit helps. If you are interested in making a monetary donation, please call 520-622-5411, and if you are interested in volunteering to pass out supplies, please call 520-795-9671.
