It’s no secret that many Phoenicians use bikes as a main method of transportation, choosing to soak in the sunshine and get some fresh air by biking to work or school.
One problem that plagues many major cities, including Phoenix, is bike theft. An upcoming event this weekend aims to bring about positive change for the biking community in Phoenix and encourage bike registration and safety.
On Saturday, December 3, from 10 am to 1 pm, the Evans Churchill Bicycle Registration Campaign will take over the Phoenix Public Market Cafe, offering advice and services to local bicyclists.
The Evans Churchill Community Association, Phoenix Public Market, Phoenix Union Bioscience High School and Phoenix Police Department have teamed up to provide free bicycle registration for the local community!
Everyone is invited and encouraged to stop by on Saturday morning to get their bikes registered, as well as check out useful safety information and get any bike-related questions answered.
Statistics show that thieves are less likely to steal a registered bicycle because it can easily be identified and traced back to it’s owners. Bicycle registration also helps to identify the owner in the case of a crash, because many bicyclists, especially children, don’t carry identification.

By registering your bicycle, you can protect yourself from bicycle theft and increase the chances that it will be returned to you if recovered.
The Phoenix Public Market is located atĀ 14 E Pierce St, Phoenix, AZ 85004, USA. Stop by on Saturday morning to protect yourself and your bike and mingle with other bicyclists!
