Arizona State University is continuing to prove it’s “number one in innovation” title with it’s new business incubator program.

In partnership with the city of Phoenix, ASU will offer this program, and they are looking for ideas on businesses interested in waste diversion and improving ways to use waste as a raw material for energy. The hope is that this program will help encourage the development of a circular economy,  an important concept for the future. The program will offer resources and support for companies that contribute to this objective of the circular economy.

The Resource Innovation and Solutions Network Incubator is currently accepting applicants who are in the early stages of development. A combination of embracing public-private partnerships and foster new and innovative ideas, selected business ventures will receive services and training. This includes dedicated mentors who will offer guidance and access to technical experts, investor network management training, business plan development, and access to feedstock from the city’s waste transfer station. There will also be a process for ongoing evaluation and early qualification for funding opportunities. This incubator will give entrepreneurs the chance to work together to develop ideas and discover unique solutions to improve the future of the city’s economy.

Plastics, batteries, carpeting and carpet foam, mattresses, textiles, broken furniture, food waste, plastic film and compost are some of the materials these ventures will have access to, and they can also try to secure other materials in the waste stream.
