Mark your calendars for a family-friendly cultural experience!
The 33rd annual festival of Japan, called the Arizona Matsuri Festival, will take over Heritage & Science Park (115 N. 6th St. at the SW corner of 7th St. and Monroe) in downtown Phoenix. The event will run from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday, February 25th and Sunday, February 26th, offering the public an inside look at the phenomenal Japanese culture, right here in the Valley!
The Arizona Matsuri Festival will feature Japanese exhibits, demonstrations, arts and crafts, delicious cuisine, children’s activities, bonsai displays, games and contests and four stages of live entertainment. There will also be a Japanese beer and sake garden for adult attendees.
Admission is free for the event, which is themed “Shinkansen,” a network of high-speed, advanced railway lines in Japan. Over sixty vendors will be on hand to offer handmade goods and more to guests.
The festival is brought to life by a non-profit organization of the same name, Arizona Matsuri, whose members are drawn from the Arizona Buddhist Church, the Phoenix Himeji Sister City Committee, the Japanese American Citizens League, the Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix, the Japanese Business Association of Arizona, and interested individuals. The Matsuri is the means for the Arizona Matsuri to fulfill its mission of introducing the arts and culture of Japan to Arizona.
Don’t miss out on this incredible cultural experience! Bring the whole family to enjoy an afternoon of Japanese food, dance, art and much more!
