Offensive graffiti at a popular Mt. Lemmon campground has prompted a Coronado National Forest Service investigation.
Over the weekend, graffiti was discovered on the bathroom walls at the Molino Basin Campground. “Death to whites” is spray painted on one wall, while “Black Lives Matter” is written on the bathroom door, next to the letters “KKK” on the door with an x over it.
Profanity written about President Donald Trump appears on the ground, and a death threat to police officers is written on another wall. Near Mile Marker 5 on Mt. Lemmon Highway, at the entrance to Molino Basin, there are obscenities written against white people on the campground information sign.
Crews will be out in the next few days to clean up the damage as the investigation continues. The suspect who is responsible for this vandalism to government property could face up to a $5,000 dollar fine and or 6 months in prison. Anyone with information is asked to please call 520-388-8300 or 88-CRIME.
