
A heartbreaking scene unfolded in Glendale on Thursday night as a pedestrian lost his life. An 18-year-old unlicensed driver was taken into custody after hitting the pedestrian and killing him.
According to Glendale Police, Jose Vazquez Flores was taken into custody and booked on multiple charges after he struck the victim, who was crossing a street in Glendale. Officials allege Flores went to pass another vehicle while heading westbound on Glendale Avenue. As he was completing the pass and re-entering his original lane, he hit a man who was crossing the roadway mid-block at 65th Avenue.
The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Glendale man Jesse Tucker. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. As the investigation continues, officials believe Flores was going at least 20 MPH over the speed limit at he time of the crash. He is now facing charges of manslaughter, reckless driving, and criminal speed accidental death while driving and never been issued a license.
