United Food Bank Selects Dave Richins as CEO

The Board of Directors of United Food Bank has appointed Dave Richins to lead the organization as President and CEO.

Richins previously served as Interim CEO for the past three months. In naming Richins, United Food Bank is committed to delivering on the agency’s mission to support its more than 222 partners in feeding hungry people across regional Phoenix and throughout Arizona.

“The Board is honored to have Dave as our CEO, “said Board Chair Jo Martin. “His years of experience and his commitment to the community were factors in why Dave was our ideal choice.  We know Dave is passionate about our mission of feeding hungry people and his passion will drive United Food Bank forward into many successful years.”

Richins has worked in nonprofit, government and corporate roles. Most recently, he served as a Mesa City Council member for District 1, completing two terms.

He also worked for Resolution Copper, working with the Government and Community Affairs team performing outreach and education to Congress, the Arizona Legislature and local government. In that capacity, he also worked with local nonprofit organizations to help build their capacity to better serve the community.

Richins helped start the West Mesa Community Development Corporation and served as its first executive director. He also helped launch the Sun Corridor Legacy Program at the Sonoran Institute, a think tank on western policy issues.

Richins holds a Bachelor’s degree in sustainable community development with a minor in leadership from Prescott College.

“I am honored to lead an organization with such a deep legacy of feeding hungry people in the East Valley and Eastern Arizona,” said Richins. “With our amazing team, we will build on that legacy through collaboration, cooperation and operational excellence.”

United Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides hunger relief by collecting, acquiring, storing and distributing food and related commodities through a network of more than 220 partner social service agencies in eastern Maricopa County, Gila and Pinal Counties, and southern Apache and Navajo Counties.  Last year, UFB distributed 27.7 million pounds of food to hungry Arizonans.
