Tucson Man Will Face Judge in Shooting Slaying of Girlfriend

Six years after he admitted to shooting and killing his girlfriend, a Tucson man will finally face a judge next week.

Despite his admission of guilt, Ronald J. Corbin has been a free man since 2012 because the Pima County Attorney’s Office did not pursue the case on account of lack of evidence. In June 2012, Genna Ayup was shot in the head. After being arrested, Corbin told police he had been drinking and handling a gun when it went off accidentally, according to his claims, and struck his girlfriend in the head, killing her.

Now, he will face a judge in an arraignment hearing set for Wednesday, Sept 5., following an indictment by a grand jury. The case was reopened this year and presented to the grand jury.
