Trio Nobilis Performs Sunday at Tempe Center for the Arts

Hayden’s Ferry Chamber Music Series begins its 2016-17 season Sunday, Nov. 13, 2:30 p.m. at Tempe Center for the Arts sponsored by Northern Trust.

Trio Nobilis opens the series with Tchaikovsky silver medalist Suren Bagratuni, cellist, violinist Ruggero Allifranchini, concert master of the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra in New York, and pianist Stephen Prutsman, recipient of the Avery Fisher career grant.

They will perform Stephen Prutsman’s Concert Paraphrase on Themes from Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin”; the Hayden Piano Trio No.39 in G Major (“Gypsy”); and the Tchaikovsky Trio in A minor, Op. 50.

Sunday is the last opportunity to purchase a $100 season ticket for all five concerts. Individual concert tickets are $25 and include a wine reception with artists following the concert.

Future concerts include:

Zorá String Quartet, Dec11 — musicians from Spain, Thailand, South Korea and China, quartet members are winners of the 2015 Young Concert Artist International Auditions.

Pianist Jeffrey Swann, Jan22, 2017– Queen Elizabeth silver medalist, winner of the Dinu Ciani Competition, and recipient of top honors at the Warsaw Chopin and Van Cliburn competitions.

Violinist Nikki Chooi performs in recital with pianist Amy Yang, March 5, 2017. Chooi is recent first prize winner of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition and is a graduate of the Curtis Institute, Juilliard and the Yale School of Music.

Violinist Dmitri Berlinsky and the International Chamber Soloists perform April 23, 2017. Berlinsky, who is a Tchaikovsky, Paganini, and Queen Elizabeth medalist and Young Concert Artist International Auditions winner, will perform a Russian program of string sextets.

“This series showcases acclaimed musicians as well as talented emerging musicians,” says Catherine Hayden series producer. “The programs will feature a broad range of repertoire and fresh interpretations of classical chamber music.”
