Transportation System Testing Three-Day Pass

A new option for commuters will be available next week.

The Tucson Transportation DepartmentSun Tran, and Sun Link will introduce a new three-day transit pass pilot program on Tuesday, Aug. 15.

According to a Sun Tran news release, after their pass is first activated, customers will have access to unlimited rides on Sun Link street cars, Sun Tran buses and select Sun Shuttle routes for 72 consecutive hours.

This new option will serve as an alternative to the current one-day and 30-day passes, giving riders the chance to travel more frequently and further over a three-day period.

The pilot program will be tested for six months through February 15 of next year, and it’s success will determine whether the transit systems will adopt the pass permanently.

Commuters can purchase the pass online, by phone, on the GoTucson Transit app, at SunGo Sales outlets, the Sun Tran administrative office, ticket vending machines at the city’s three transit centers, or the Sun Tran Special Services Office. The three-day pass will be $10, or $11 total when loaded on the app or $12 when including the cost of a new SunGo card.
