Theatrikos Presents “The Graduate”

The talented actors of Theatrikos present their latest production, The Graduate,Ā this week.

The show premieres on Friday, June 2 and continues through June 18. The show tells the story of the famed Mrs. Robinson and Benjamin Braddock in an adaption of the 1960s sexual revolution film.

Fifty years after the iconic film first hit the big screen, talented locals will perform the story at the Doris Harper-White Community Playhouse (11 W. Cherry Avenue) in historic downtown Flagstaff.

Patricia McKee directs this dark comedy that explores family dysfunction, martial woes, parental pressure and that naivety of youth in a hilarious, bittersweet manner.

Niki DeShazo, Nichole Garrison, Keenan Larson, Rob Peters, Sam Piper, Jan Rominger, Michael Rulon, Jim Taylor and Audrey Young bring the story to life. Braddock is the central character, a brilliant young man who finds himself uncertain and disoriented after his college graduation. Struggling against panic and boredom, Benjamin finds himself conflicted but willing when an unhappily married, charismatic Mrs. Robinson persuades him into an affair.

Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 p.m., while Sunday matinees will start at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $18-$24 depending on the date and time. For more information or to purchase tickets, please call 928-774-1662 or visit Theatrikos.com. The theater’s box office is also open from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and two hours prior to every performance.

This Friday, there will be a special pre-show reception with free refreshments and artwork in the lobby, as well as a post-show reception with the cast.

Following the first Sunday matinee performance on June 4, there will be a post-show talk with Dr. David Church, a film historian and lecturer in Cinema Studies at Northern Arizona University. He will sit down with Director Patricia McKee and discuss the process of bringing the famous film to the stage, and this discussion will be free and open to the public.
