‘The Sleeping Beauty’ Brings True Love’s Kiss to the Stage Oct. 25-28

One of the world’s oldest fairytales will get a ballet twist when Ballet Arizona brings The Sleeping Beauty to Symphony Hall Oct. 25-28, with accompaniment from The Phoenix Symphony.

The stage comes to life with fairies, princes and nymphs, gleaming with vivid color and storybook charm. The Sleeping Beauty blossoms like a rose, drawing you into a world of romance, wonder and grandeur. This celebrated classic, set to the Phoenix Symphony’s live performance of Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, will sweep you off of your feet leaving you spellbound from true love’s kiss.

Choreographed by Marius Petipa with additional choreography by heralded Ballet Arizona Artistic Director, Ib Andersen, The Sleeping Beauty is a mesmerizing treat with stunning costumes and dazzling sets that transport the audience to a magical kingdom. The enchanting story is brought to life by Princess Aurora, bewitched by the evil Carabosse and placed into a 100-year protective sleep by the Lilac Fairy, to be awakened only by true love’s kiss.

Ballet Arizona will show six performances of The Sleeping Beauty. Attendees can get an inside look at the production being performed with The Sleeping Beauty’s pre and post-performance chats 45 minutes before the Thursday, Oct. 25 and Friday, Oct. 26, performances. A post-performance chat will be held 15 minutes after the Saturday, Oct. 27 matinee.
