Fans of luxury cars will soon have a place to purchase one of the industry’s top brands in Scottsdale.
After five years of legal battles with the state, Tesla, an electric car manufacturer, has been granted permission to sell cars directly in Arizona.
Since 2012, the American automobile company has been trying to sell it’s cars to consumers in Arizona at it’s Scottsdale store, but the Arizona Department of Transportation intervened, saying state law prevents manufacturers from bypassing dealerships and selling directly.
Tesla challenged this, arguing that since they don’t have dealerships, the law was not applicable to them. The law was intended to restrict industry competition.
Last year, an administrative judge supported Tesla in the debate, but it wasn’t long before the Arizona Automobile Dealers Association sued in an effort to try and prevent the license from being granted.
A judge recently threw out the case, so Tesla now has permission to sell it’s vehicles at it’s store in Scottsdale Fashion Square.
The Tesla store is located on level one and gives shoppers a unique, innovative experience that allows them to explore the company’s technology and design their own model.
