Tempe Prep Junior, Mary Shroll (shown in photo on right with sister Taylor Shroll) is representing Team USA at the High Performance Volleyball Championships being held July 19-23 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Shroll will play Libero on the USA A1 National Girls Youth Blue team and compete against International squads from Brazil, Chile, China, Dominican Republic, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Puerto Rico, and US Region High Performance teams. High Performance is the pipeline for USA Olympic Teams.
In February of this year, PrepVolleyball named her to the “Soph 79”, identifying the 79 best varsity-playing sophomores in the country. In May, Shroll was named the AIA Player of the Year in the 2A Conference.
At Tempe Prep, Shroll averaged 5.2 kills per set this past season for the Knights. Tempe Prep Coach Lisa Barlow noted, “The only reason we made it to the state tournament was because Mary single-handedly beat teams for us,” She led Tempe Prep in kills, digs, blocks and aces and was named Region Player of the Year even though the Knights were knocked out in the first round of the state tournament. “Four out of the six teams in our region made it to the state tournament and two of our region teams were in the state finals together,” Barlow said, “so getting Region Player of the Year spoke volumes as to her talent.”
