MTD Products, Inc., an international manufacturer of yard and garden equipment, is the 2016 Title Sponsor of Tempe Neighbors Helping Neighbors’ (TNHN) annual Holiday Lighting project.
“We are honored to have MTD Products as our Title Sponsor this year,” said Josephine Levy, TNHN’s Executive Director. “They have been our dedicated volunteer partner throughout the year in helping TNHN members with their landscaping challenges. It would be hard for us to do what we do without them. Tempe is extremely fortunate to have MTD as a community service partner.”
Headquartered in Valley City near Cleveland, Ohio, MTD is a leading worldwide manufacturer of outdoor power equipment with facilities in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, and produces equipment for both residential and commercial markets. The MTD research and development center is located in Tempe.
Holiday Lights is a city-wide, 100% volunteer-led effort and will take place on Saturday, December 3rd, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. The check-in and staging area will be located at Clark Park, 1730 S. Roosevelt Street in Tempe. Once checked in at the staging area, TNHN volunteers will spread out around the city to place 2-5 strands of lights, clips, extension cords and timers on the homes of those residents who’ve been nominated by their friends and neighbors. On Saturday, January 7th, the volunteers will return to take the lights down.

“All of the lights, clips, and extension cords have been donated by generous folks in the community who support the effort and there is no charge for the service,” said Laura Kajfez, a TNHN volunteer who coordinates the event each year. “This is just a caring group of people who want to make the holidays a little brighter for those who need it most and we’re here to help make that happen.”
In 2014, 28 homes were decorated, and last year that number grew to 42 homes.
TNHN volunteers will also decorate the doorways of residents living at the Apache ASL Trails apartment community in Tempe, 2428 E. Apache Blvd., where the majority of residents are low-income and hearing impaired.
“MTD is proud to work with TNHN in its ongoing mission to help Tempe’s senior citizens to remain in their homes as long as possible,” said JoJo Jones, MTD’s Special Projects coordinator. “ Our cleanup teams are pleased that their work in the community is doing good for those who need help. The MTD family is pleased to support TNHN and becoming a Title Sponsor for the Holiday Lights program provides us with a great opportunity to support our community.”
