
Tempe Center for the Arts, sponsored by Northern Trust, celebrates its 10th Anniversary with a gala celebration the weekend of Sept. 8 and Sept. 9.
Jordin Sparks, American Idol winner and Arizona native, is featured in concert on Friday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 9, “Too Marvelous for Words: The Story of Nat King Cole” starring Keith David, opens the TCA Presents: 2017-18 Season at 7:30 p.m.
Hosted by Friends of TCA, the Friday evening is presented by Northern Trust. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, pre-show entertainment, a silent auction and premium seating are all part of the VIP $150 tickets.

On the same evening, Gallery at TCA will open its season with an exclusive preview of “Tempe Xhibition” featuring artists and creatives that have given Tempe its smart, creative, funky and innovative vibe. The show runs from Sept. 8 to Jan. 6, 2018.
Ten years ago, Natalie Cole headlined the opening of Tempe Center for the Arts in a glittering night that was “unforgettable.” Now, TCA brings the Tony-nominated singer Keith David on Saturday, Sept. 9, to perform a Nat King Cole celebration bringing Nat’s most famous songs to life for the Anniversary weekend.
The Keith David performance also initiates the TCA Presents 2017-2018 Season. Highlights include international street dance sensation Lil Buck in November; the all-female Mariachi Flor de Toloache in February; and Gidion’s Knot a play Johnna Adams and co-presented with Stray Cat Theatre in April.
“It’s exciting to be celebrating our 10th year simultaneously with the launch of our first full presenting season,” said Ralph Remington, City of Tempe arts & Cultural Deputy Director.
