Japanese culture will take center stage at a unique event coming to the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
Mark your calendar’s for the evening of Saturday, May 6th, when Ken Koshio’s Taiko Extravaganza presents an energetic performance of creativity and culture.
This will be the third annual large-scale show produced by Ken Koshio, a Phoenix-based Japanese musician and artist who is known for his performances throughout the valley. He is regarded as a world class Japanese Taiko drummer.
The theme of this year’s show is “Salt of the Earth,” a nod to how the art forms of music and dance intertwine to celebrate and experience the diversity of cultures. Taiko has been an important part of Japanese culture for centuries, and since ancient times, Taiko rhythms have set the heartbeat in motion, expressing the melodies and pulse of mother earth.
With his show, Koshio aims to provide the audience with a memorable experience showcasing the collaboration of diverse cultures and natural rhythms. Attendees will be treated to a musical performance anchored by Taiko, a Japanese style of percussion that combines music, movement and spirit.
The May show will begin at 7:00 and end at 9:00 pm, with doors opening at 6:30 pm. Purchase your tickets in advance for $20-$30 or at the door for $25-$35.
