Set to open March 1, 2017, Sweet Provisions (8120 N. Hayden Rd., 480.275.2676) is the Valley’s finest new gourmet ice cream parlor and fresh-baked dessert shop from Common Ground Culinary, a restaurant development group headed by chef/owner Christopher Collins. Scooping up an ever-changing menu of fresh-churned ice cream, frosty floats and decadent milkshakes, plus fresh-from-the-oven cookies, brownies and pies, Sweet Provisions utilizes local ingredients and all-natural goodness to make life extra sweet. Housed inside a colorful, retro-modern space next door to Collins’ two other restaurant concepts Grassroots and Twisted Grove in Scottsdale, Sweet Provisions will be serving up from-scratch treats daily from 11 am to 10 pm, Sunday through Thursday and 11 am to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Sweet Provisions’ mouth-watering menu is highlighted by premium house-made ice creams such as Georgia Peach Pie, Triple Shot Coffee, Toasted Walnuts + Maple Syrup, or Pistachio + Candied Bacon, all served on your choice of sugar cone, waffle cone and even cake cone. Or shake things up with a standup-spoon-thick milkshake such as the Campfire S’more (Chocolate + Chocolate ice cream, fudge, graham crackers, burnt marshmallow) or a throwback frosty float (Root Beer, Vanilla Cream, Orange Crush, Dr. Pepper, Cherry Cola). Pair your ice cream with a fresh-baked-daily cookie for a build-your-own ice cream sandwich, or add an a la mode scoop to any of Sweet Provisions’ house-baked treats, including Brownies and Bars such as Ghirardelli Toffee, Scottsdale Blonde or Lemon Tart. Plus, dig into Sweet Provisions’ soon-to-be-famous house-made pies by the slice or the whole pie, such as the Strawberry Rhubarb or Banana Cream. And get your fill of the best new and old school candies when you mix and match from the selection of more than 30 different types of candy.
Housed inside a colorful, custom-designed space at the NW corner of Hayden Road & Via De Ventura inside the Village at Hayden shopping center, Sweet Provisions also tempts with a welcoming atmosphere and a warm, friendly staff. Much like its menu, Sweet Provisions (aka Sweet P’s) look and feel combines classic ice cream parlor dĂ©cor and pastel colors, with more modern touches, including sleek glass display cases and expansive window walls to create a bright, appealing atmosphere.
Sweet Provisions is the latest addition to the Christopher Collins’ Valley-based Common Ground Culinary, a fast-growing collection of neighborhood restaurants and bars, including Grassroots Kitchen & Tap in Phoenix and Scottsdale, and Twisted Grove Parlor + Bar and Wally’s American Gastropub in Scottsdale. A fourth generation restaurateur, Collins is the son of Wally Collins, who continues to independently operate the original Wally’s American Pub ‘n Grille in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix.
