Special Meeting Planned for Tucson Unified School District

The Tucson Unified School District will meet on Tuesday, February 28 for the third week in a row.

The district’s staff will discuss superintendent H.T Sanchez and his contract.

In the last two meetings, the board voted to postpone this critical item, a decision that created tension with audience members who had waited hours to voice their opinions.

Critics of the Superintendent cite his leadership, the district’s performance, test scores and teacher retention as concerns.

The public meeting will take place at Duffy Community Center (5145 E. Fifth Street)  starting at 4 pm.

The board meeting is expected to go into executive session, which will not be open to the public

Tuesday’s special meeting features a busy agenda, including hearing about how six schools plan to transition away from magnet programs, as well as attendance issues in the district and an update on sex education curriculum revisions.
