If your craving some delicious breakfast sandwiches or have a sweet tooth, then look no further at Bertha’s Café, a small family owned restaurant in Phoenix. Rated for having the best Cheesecake in Phoenix by the New Times magazine, this place has it all, whether that is fair prices, friendly people, and none the less, great food.
I have been to this restaurant quite a few times and it is always a must stop on my list of places to eat in town. You can’t go wrong starting your day off with one of the many breakfast options that are on the menu. One of my favorites that I recently have become acquainted with is the “breakfast wrap”, which consists of oven-roasted tomatoes, bacon, cheddar cheese, and caramelized red onions, served in a garlic herb wrap with baked eggs. Not only is this an appetizing item to read on a menu but also super delicious! Another one of my favorite breakfast items that I would highly recommend is the “sausage and egg sandwich”. You can’t go wrong with simplicity, especially if it is done correctly. Along with these great breakfast items there are many other lunch options such as sandwiches, wraps and salads to choose from.
Most importantly though is the beautiful display of dessert items that the café bakes fresh daily. Not only are they a visual delight, but also some of the most tasty and mouth-watering items I have ever tried. Trust me, when you lay your eyes on the s’mores cheesecake for the first time, you might be captured by love at first sight (and hey, that’s only the appearance)!
Overall, this restaurant is a great place to grab your morning coffee and a lunch to-go or meet up with some friends to grab a bite. The prices are so affordable, especially living in a town where salads are sold for $13 (don’t worry, the most expensive one on the menu is $7.50). So take my advice and next time you find yourself near Indian School & 32nd St., do yourself a favor and stop in. You will not regret it!
