The Arizona Lottery has opened a retail location in Sky Harbor International Airport, making Arizona the latest state to join the airport lottery movement.
In the past five years, there has been a trend of state lotteries establishing locations in airports, reaching out to travelers and frequent fliers and creating a new customer base.
With more than 44 million passengers traveling through Sky Harbor each year, it is an ideal location for the lottery to expand and expose it’s many games and drawings to out-of-state travelers. Other state lotteries that have adopted airport retail locations include the Georgia Lottery. Airport kiosks have made quite an impact for the Georgia Lottery, as the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has consistently been ranked as the busiest airport in the world, with more than 100 million passengers in 2015.
In Sky Harbor, the Arizona Lottery has established it’s third retail location in the state, joining locations in Phoenix and Tucson. The space is situated on the first floor of Terminal 4, the busiest terminal at Sky Harbor, with Southwest, American, and British Airways flights. The retail location is near the baggage claim, meaning that fliers who are waiting for their baggage can easily stop by and pick up a few tickets. This locations sells tickets for all of the Arizona draw games, as well as scratch-off cards.
