Several Local Options For Senior Meal Delivery

Are you in the market for a meal delivery service for seniors? You’re in luck, as there is a growing number of organizations in the Tucson area that bring healthy meals right to the doorsteps of our elderly citizens.

In addition to smartphone apps like UberEats and GrubHub, there’s three senior delivery services that stand out for their food and friendly approach. Here are the details:

Interfaith Community Services Mobile Meals. Volunteers with ICS Mobile Meals bring fresh, healthy meals each weekday to seniors who are unable to cook their own meals. This program was designed to help speed up recovery and recuperation during convalescence and help older folks avoid falling ill and requiring stays in nursing homes or hospitals. ICS accommodates special diets and makes healthy meals designed to keep seniors on their feet or get them back to their regular, optimal health. This service provides one or two meals a deal, up to five days a week, in the northwest area of Tucson. If you or someone you know could benefit from this service, please call 520-297-6049 or visit the official website HERE for more details.

Pima Council on Aging’s Pima Meals on Wheels. Another great option is the Meals on Wheels program, which is associated with Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest and Catholic Social Services. This program brings meals made with low fat and low salt ingredients to senior citizens over 60 who can’t obtain healthy meals any other way. Some of the meal options include turkey burgers, southwest chicken salad and honey mustard chicken cutlets. For more details about Meals on Wheels, please call 520-790-7262 or visit the official website.

Mobile Meals of Southern Arizona. The organization makes a difference to many homebound and vulnerable older residents in the region. Each year, more than 300 Mobile Meals volunteers bring close to 100,000 freshly-made meals, tailored to medical needs, to senior citizens across Tucson, Green Valley and Sahuarita. This service is available five days a week, and has nearly 50 years of history helping others in Southern Arizona. You can get in touch by calling 520-622-1600 or visiting the official website here.

If you’re looking for other options, you can get in touch with thirteen recreation centers throughout the greater Tucson area that cook meals for seniors, but don’t deliver.
