Flooding is no fun and can be downright dangerous. This is especially true for our beautiful state of Arizona, considering nearly 300 days a year are bright and sunny in the Sonoran desert.

As the scorching summer and monsoon season rages on, it’s important that homeowners are prepared and proactive when it comes to water damage and flooding prevention. Luckily, there are multiple locations across Tucson and southern Arizona that are offering sandbags to local residents in anticipation of monsoon storms that could cause flooding.

Check out this list of places you can go to get sandbags. Keep in mind that you should call ahead to confirm the location closest to you is still available.

Tucson

• Hi Corbett Field, east parking lot, 700 S. Randolph Way at Reid Park; open 24/7 with a limit of 10 bags, bring your own shovel
• Tucson Rodeo Grounds, north parking lot, 4823 S. Sixth Avenue; Wednesdays only from 4 p.m.-8 p.m., with a limit of 10 bags.

Marana

• El Rio Open Space, 10050 N. Coachline Boulevard; 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; limit of 10 pre-filled bags.
• Marana Heritage River Park, 12280 N. Heritage Park Drive; 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; limit of 10 pre-filled bags.

Oro Valley

• Naranja Park, 810 W. Naranja Drive, just north of the archery range; there’s a limit of 10 bags per car. Bring your own shovel, but if you need assistance you can arrange for pre-filled bags by contacting Constituent Services Coordinator Jessica Hynd at 520-229-4711 or jhynd@orovalleyaz.gov.
