Officers from the Sahuarita Police Department made three arrests following an incident at a local Wal-Mart store late last month.
On Monday, June 25th at 7:33 PM, officers were called to 18680 S. Nogales Highway for reports of trespassing. There, officers found the involved suspects parked just south of the Wal-Mart at an adjacent T-Mobile store. A thorough investigation revealed that a 35-year-old Tucson resident named Darrick Marvel Thomas apparently uploaded Walmart receipts that were not his to an application on his cell phone. He then went into the store and picked up the same items listed on the receipt, and left the store without paying.
According to the official press release, the suspect put on a shirt from the AZ Department of Corrections along with a metal badge before re-entering Walmart with the stolen items. He went to the customer service desk and tried to return the goods. 33-year-old Tiffany Weilburg of Tucson was also arrested for her involvement, and the uniform shirts and badge belonged to a person she knew.
Both individuals were taken into custody and charged with felonies including impersonating a police officer and organized retail theft as well as misdemeanors of shoplifting and criminal trespass.
