A Russian man drowned in Lake Powell last week.
Officials say a group of 29 foreign nationals headed out on the lake, located along the border of Utah and Arizona, on Monday, August 27. The group had rented three pontoon boats, and some of them jumped in for a swim without putting on life jackets.
As the winds picked up, several swimmers struggled to stay afloat, and although some were able to swim to shore and others were pulled out of the water, one man died. The drowning victim was identified on Wednesday at 20-year-old St. Petersburg resident
Authorities also added that two people were cut by the boat’s propellers as they helped bring his body back into the boat, while three others nearly drowned in the dangerous incident.
