The Recycled Art Exhibition is celebrating fifteen years of creativity and reuse!
The annual exhibition will run from Saturday, April 1 to Sunday, April 30 and it will be held in the Coalition’s gallery in the Flagstaff Mall. The community is invited to attend the opening reception this Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This art exhibition serves to turn trash into treasure, featuring everything from discarded cardboard and paper to broken skateboards to plastic bags. Local artists employ their creativity to give these items a second chance at life.
Throughout the exhibition’s history, young children, elderly residents and everyone in between have participated. In years past, the exhibition has attracted over 100 pieces made from a wide range of materials. The 2017 exhibition will include a group of artists who work exclusively with broken sleds found in area forests. The Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff organizes the exhibition, and this year, they invited veterans to submit work with their entry fees waived.
Throughout April, the gallery will be open seven days a week, noon to 7 p.m. (Mondays-Saturdays) and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Learn more at www.flagstaff-arts.org.
