As the town of Queen Creek continues to grow, so does the need for new and improved roadways. To better understand the needs of the community, Queen Creek conducted a Transportation Impact Fee Study, in which the town identified funding sources for new projects. As part of the unanimously approved Queen Creek Transportation Master Plan, 41 projects providing 91 new lane miles will be constructed in the next ten years, totaling $195 million.
The study examines the Town’s transportation impact fee, a one-time fee assessed to new residential and commercial development to pay for necessary public services needed to accommodate growth, such as new roadways. Preliminary findings of the study indicate that the fee may need to increase in order to support the $195 million roadway plan.
Citizens are invited to access the study and provide their feedback on the official town website, as well as mark their calendars for the first public hearing scheduled for July 19. Changing the impact fee requires several public hearings.
