Power Outage Affects Over 800 Customers in Tucson Area

It’s the middle of the summer in southern Arizona, and the scorching temperatures and monsoon weather are bringing power outages along for the ride.

On Thursday afternoon, upwards of 800 TEP (Tucson Electric Power) customers were without power on Tucson’s northwest side. The outage initially affected 6,000 people throughout the Casas Adobes, Catalina and Cortaro areas. By 4 p.m., power had been restored to all customers except those in Catalina.

This came on an extremely hot day in Tucson when the temperature hit 110 degrees at 1:45 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Tucsonans are used to power outages, especially during the summer. You can stay up to date on outages throughout the region by checking out these interactive maps from TEP and Trico Electric Cooperative.
