A popular downtown establishment temporarily lost its liquor licenses last week.
El Minuto Cafe, a constant presence in Tucson since it’s inception in 1939, lost both of its liquor licenses on December 5, as the restaurant missed the Septermber 30 application deadline.
El Minuto Cafe is situated on Main Avenue in downtown Tucson, making it a popular hangout for locals and tourists alike. While some patrons are disappointed by the lack of liquor, they are hopeful that the restaurant will be back in full swing soon.
Following the oversight, the restaurant is in the process of getting its liquor licenses reestablished within the next few weeks.
For it’s operations, the restaurant had a license for its beer and wine bar, as well as a restaurant license.
El Minuto hosts an annual New Year’s celebration, and the hope is that the liquor licenses will be back in place and established by that time. If the restaurant is successful, rumor has it there will be half-off margaritas to ring in the New Year!
