The Flagstaff community is encouraged to participate in The Northern Arizona Playwriting Showcase.

This unique annual tradition began in 2007 when two graduate students in the Creative Writing Program at Northern Arizona University proposed a collaboration with members of Theatrikos Theater, Flagstaff’s recognized community theater, to present a yearly 10-minute play contest.

Now, ten years later, the showcase has been successful in encouraging both novice and seasoned playwrights to create new work to be celebrated at the Doris Harper White Community Theater in Flagstaff. It also provides actors and directors of all levels of experience with opportunities to expand their skillset.

This year’s showcase is set for the weekend of September 8-10, and the contest will open on Monday, May 1 through Saturday, July 1.
