The Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared some great news on social media yesterday.
At the Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, August 7th, Sgt. Brian Kunze was presented with the Carnegie Medal for his life-saving efforts to rescue a woman from a burning building.
During the incident, an armed man had detonated an explosion in the residence by staging cans of gasoline and creating a natural gas leak. The force of the explosion forced other deputies back, but, without regard for his own safety or life, Sgt. Brian Kunze pushed forward and rushed into the home. He carried the victim to safety, sustaining cuts to his hands during the rescue which needed hospital treatment.
Congratulations are in order for Sgt. Kunze for this fantastic recognition and his heroic, unforgettable actions.
