Opening a child’s eyes to his or her own potential and seeing the world through a new light is the goal of Kids in Focus, a local program featured in the newest exhibition at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. This exhibition features 32 photographic prints created by youth who participated in the Kids in Focus program. The program is dedicated to empowering and inspiring at-risk youth, ages 10-14, through a nine-week program where they learn from professional photographers. The children gain self-esteem and a new perspective on themselves and their environment.
The color photographs are matted and framed and give insight into what is important to these young artists. The lighting and composition of the photos is impressive, and the subject matter ranges from light-hearted to insightful and compelling. The students’ creativity and new education about photography ignites a sense of pride and accomplishment, thus putting Kids in Focus.
This exhibition will be on display at Phoenix Sky Harbor’s Terminal 4, level 3 center wall west of the food court and north east wall next to Sauce restaurant through September 17, 2017. For more information on the Kids in Focus program, please visit www.kidsinfocus.org
