Phoenix Comicon is coming up this week, and there are plenty of activities and special events planned over the weekend, including the Kids Need to Read Charity Poker Tournament.Ā
On Friday, May 26, at 7:00 p.m., the public is invited to attend this annual fundraiser benefitting Kids Need to Read, a Mesa-based national nonprofit foundation that promotes childhood literacy and addresses the critical loss of library funding in schools nationwide.
For a $20 donation to the foundation, guests can get a seat in a friendly game of no limit Texas Hold ‘Em. The fun will continue through the early morning hours until 2:00 a.m., and some famous artists and Phoenix Comicon vendors have generously donated prizes for the event. With additional donations to Kids Need to Read, players can get extra chips to improve their chances!
Registration will open at 7:00 p.m. on Friday outside of the Hyatt Regency Ballroom CD in downtown Phoenix. Be there early, as this event has limited seating and has sold out fast previously. Games will begin at 8:00 p.m.
