A horrifying sexual assault in the Bronx is being investigated by the NYPD.
The incident occurred on Sunday, November 4th in an alleyway in the Claremont section of the Bronx near the intersection of 174th Street and Weeks Avenue.
The victim is a 12-year-old girl who was grabbed from behind and pulled into an alleyway. Surveillance video captured the suspect in the minutes before the terrifying attack. He’s seen waiting, glancing at his phone and checking over his shoulder, as well as pacing back and forth and circling the block.
When the victim walked down the street, the man checked to see if anyone was looking before grabbing her and threatening her with a simulated gun.
Crime scene tape remained on the scene two days after the initial police investigation. Officials say the suspect ran off from the alley and the girl was taken to the hospital.
The community is on high alert and very concerned about the victim and her family, especially because the offender told the girl he would kill her and her family if police pursued him. Police officers also canvassed the neighborhood, handing out fliers with a picture of the suspect and the caption “Wanted for sexual assault.”
