NYPD are investigating a violent incident surrounding a halal cart in Brooklyn on Sunday night.

The first incident occurred at 11:30 p.m., on the corner of 5th Avenue and 68th Street. Two men, a 49-year-old halal street cart vendor and a customer, became engaged in a physical altercation, as the vendor allegedly assaulted the other man with kicks and fists to his body.

The victim fled the scene in a white sedan. A short while later, police said two more men approached the halal cart, assaulting the vendor. While the motive has not been confirmed, police believe it may have been in retaliation for the first attack.

The vendor was taken to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn, where he was treated for cuts and bruises on his body and head.

According to police, the vendor is not cooperating and wants the investigation dropped.
