Many people love a nice glass of wine at the end of a hard day, and now, a local wine expert will offer classes for those wishing to expand their horizons and knowledge of the wine world.

Darla Hoffman, an Ahwatukee resident, will begin offering wine classes in January at My Wine Cellar, a popular restaurant in the heart of the community.

Hoffman is a certified wine specialist and sommelier, and she will host her classes at My Wine Cellar, which is under new ownership and has a loyal clientele. The restaurant offers a comfortable, intimate setting for individuals as well as group outings.

The new owner of My Wine Cellar has made positive changes that make it an ideal location for Hoffman’s classes, including the installation of heaters and misters on the year-round patio and more small plates and wine-centric options on the restaurant’s menu.

Locals are invited to learn more about the vast variety of wines at Hoffman’s Wine 101 classes, a welcoming and non-intimidating way to expand one’s horizons.

The classes will be held on three consecutive Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with the first class beginning on January 16.
