The new Mormon Lake Lodge Environmental Transfer Station opened this past week, giving the public an additional resource for helping the environment and making a difference.
The transfer station was celebrated with a grand-opening event this past Saturday. The new facility will accept solid waste, recyclables, motor oil and refrigerators.
There is no additional fees for recyclables, while fees may apply for non-recyclable items as they do throughout Coconino County.
The facility will be open two days a week, Thursdays and Sundays, from 8 am to 3 pm. This will give the Mormon Lake Lodge community the chance to get rid of their waste and aid in recycling and reuse efforts.
Mormon Lake Lodge covers 300 acres in the Coconino National Forest, 31 miles outside of Flagstaff. This public resource benefits the employees and locals who work at or near the lodge, as well as visitors who are taking advantage of the Lodge’s pristine location and access to natural beauty.
The new location is more centralized and accessible for the Mormon Lake community. The station is located east of Mormon Lake Loop, just south of Mormon Lake Lodge.
