New Luxury Resort May Be Coming to Scottsdale

There has been a proposal for a new luxury resort near the renowned Scottsdale’s Troon North Golf Club.

The course has consistently been ranked among Arizona’s best, making it an attractive location for a luxury resort. According to plans filed in late October, MBA Development Partners wants to construct a two-story resort complex on nearly 2.5 vacant acres, located near Dynamite Boulevard and 103rd Place in north Scottsdale.

The plans show that the resort would feature 64 villas, a swimming pool and meeting rooms not far from the Troon Clubhouse. This project would cater to visitors who frequently travel to Scottsdale for golf trips or family vacations, and guests would have access to membership benefits offered at the golf course.

The plans show that the resort would boast a 2,000-square-foot amenity building with a pool, fitness center and community room. The plans suggest that the complex may be operated similarly to a condo or timeshare complex rather than a traditional hotel, as current plans show no space for an on-site restaurant or entrance lobby.

Zoning for the project is already in place, but the company is seeking Scottsdale Development Review Board approval for the architecture and site plans. Currently, the nearest full-service resort to the Troon North golf course is the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale, which is about 2 miles away from the course. The Four Seasons is one of five AAA “five-diamond” hotels in the state, with rates near $500 per night in the winter season.
Troon North consistently earns accolades from national golf publications, including a No. 1 ranking among Phoenix public courses and a No. 25 ranking from Golf.com’s “Top 100 courses you can play.” Fees for winter golf range from $115 to over $200 per round.

This development project was one of several proposed last month. Others include Desert Homes near Preserve, where Toll Brothers proposed building 52 single-family homes that would be expected to sell for $2 million, and Salad and Go, a healthy fast-food restaurant that launched in 2013 in Gilbert and wants to expand to Scottsdale.
