Book lovers have a new place in downtown Flagstaff to enjoy reading.

Bright Side Bookshop recently opened on 18 N. San Francisco Street. Owners Lisa Lamberson and Annette Avery were inspired to bring an independent bookstore to the downtown area, rounding out an ideal variety of retail and dining options.

Bright Side joins Bookmans as the only independent bookseller downtown, and the building was formerly home to Barefoot Cowgirl Books. Previous owner Nancy Nelson had plans to close the bookstore if she could not sell it, but the two women are excited to take it over and keep local literature downtown, easily accessible for the community.

In tune with the name for their new business, the future looks bright as they look ahead to their all-day grand reopening celebration, set for Saturday, June 3.

The public is invited to join them in celebration, as they see what this community resource has to offer. The owners hope that Bright Side will give people a chance to take a moment and relax with a good book, and get away from the screens and electronic books.
