While the honors program was established several years ago, approval from the board of regents was necessary before they could move into an honors college.
The new facility will cost approximately $58.6 million to build and the 204,656-square-foot building will sit at the corner of University and Knoles Drives.
The newest addition to the NAU campus will be built by American Campus Community, the same company responsible for construction of the SkyView dorm. NAU is hoping to open the new building in the fall of 2018.
