A broken pipe has changed the future of The Ice Jacks.
Northern Arizona University’s Ice Jacks Club Hockey team are pushing for a new home. A broken pipe at the Fieldhouse on the NAU campus forced crews to tear up the flooring, meaning the school has a chance to install a new ice skating rink.
The team needs to raise funds for the scoreboard, boards and glass, a Zamboni and locker room conversions. Establishing a new home would help the team to expand and get more student athletes and fans involved.
NAU hopes to have the rink ready for hockey by January of next year, not only for the Ice Jacks, but for all students to use for recreation.
While a rink at NAU has been in the talks for years, the Ice Jacks have practiced and played at the city of Flagstaff’s Jay Lively ice rink. The new rink will allow for more fans to attend games and enjoy the sport of hockey.
