Metropolitan Transit Authority officials just revealed their plans to complete repairs on the 7-line train, which runs from Main Street in Flushing, Queens to 34th Street- Hudson Yards in Chelsea, Manhattan.
This line is overdue for repairs, and now it seems like it will finally get them. Transit Authority president Andy Byford made the announcement on Tuesday morning, outlining the plan for repainting the procedure for repainting the subway line and eliminating dangerous lead paint from stations on the line.
Painting will start at 82nd street and move towards Citi Field. City council members voiced their concerns over the rusted and clearly outdated paint on the subway line. In May, Byford introduced a $19 billion 10-year-plan to overhaul the whole subway system. In the next five years, communication-based train control and new signal technology will be implemented on parts of the busiest subway lines. Five years later, upgrades will be made to sections of theĀ 1, 2, 3, B, D, F, M, S, N, Q, R, and W lines.
The plan also includes the installation of seven times as many underground security cameras and a redesign of the bus network to make it more accessible.
