The holidays were a special time for residents across the Valley, but one Mesa resident was especially lucky, winning a huge jackpot from the Arizona Lottery.

On Christmas Eve, the unnamed lucky recipient won the $8.4 million Pick Jackpot with a ticket purchased earlier that day. The winning ticket was purchased at a gas station located near Southern Avenue and Crismon Road.

The lucky winner chose to remain anonymous. The names of persons or organizations that are paid lottery winnings of $600 or more remain confidential for ninety days from the date of the award.

The winner can accept a lump-sum cash payment of nearly $5.5 million or select a 30-year annuity.

The Pick has become very popular throughout the state, serving as Arizona’s own jackpot game. The jackpot starts at $1 million dollars and increases until the winning ticket is awarded. Each play costs $1 and are available wherever the Arizona Lottery is sold. The Trio! package features one Powerball ticket, one Mega Millions ticket, and one Pick ticket.
