Meet the Scientist!

Sofía is a Bioarchaeology graduate student at Arizona State University studying ritual violence and human sacrifice in central Mexico. She uses bone chemistry and skeletal and tooth morphology to investigate where sacrificial victims were from and how they were related to other groups living in central Mexico to understand why these individuals were chosen for human sacrifice.

Additionally, she is also interested in body modification practices, warfare, and migration. Prior to working in Mexico, she also worked in the Andes, as well as in Egypt. Come and meet her and learn about her fascinating field of study!

“Meet the Scientist” will be going on March 10, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM. Located at the Arizona Museum of Natural History, 53 N. Macdonald Mesa, Arizona 85201

This event is included with the price of admission to the museum.
