Flagstaff Mayor Coral Evans has a challenge for residents: use less water during the month of April.
Mayor Evans wants citizens to commit to water conservation as part of the Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation. Residents can take an online pledge to conserve water through a variety of activities, including only running full loads in the dishwasher, committing to less food waste and taking shorter showers.
Flagstaff is competing in a category with cities of similar size, and on Wednesday evening, it was leading the race, with Bozeman, Montana and Andover, Minnesota in second and third place.
Cities with the highest percentage of residents who take the pledge will be entered for drawings, including gift cards for home improvement stores, home irrigation equipment and the grand prize of a Toyota Prius!
