The Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy has reason to celebrate, as their robotics team is returning to a major competition for two years in a row.
The team has advanced from the Regional Championship competition at Northern Arizona University, and they will represent the region in Tacoma, Washington at the Western Super Regional competition.
The InFALAbles are a third-year team that competed against 41 other teams fromĀ Arizona, New Mexico, and Mexico, and they successfully secured one of only four spots to advance to the next level of competition. They joined Coconino High School and Basis at the competition.
The team designed and built a robot that successfully completed all the missions in the Velocity Vortex challenge. They were presented with the Connect Award for their community outreach events such as the Flagstaff Festival of Science and STEM night at the NAU Skydome.
The students are developing skills in manufacturing, programming and computer design. The team has several community sponsors and are seeking more support to help pay for their trip to the next competition, which will be held March 10-12 at the Takoma Convention Center.
