Local Police Investigating Violent Home Invasion

Police are continuing their investigation into a terrifying home invasion in a gated community in New Jersey.

The incident happened at a home within the Enclave at the Fairways, a gated community for residents 55 and over, in Lakewood. In the early morning hours of Wednesday, a couple was found badly beaten and bound inside their home on Eagle Ridge Circle.

When police responded at around 3 a.m., they found the bleeding and bruised couple tied up and terrified. Their vehicle was stolen and they were tied up. Officials say Rob and Patty Robinson called 911 as the break-in was happening, and they also texted a family member to tell them what was happening. Police found Rob in the garage and Patty just inside the doorway, bound with duct tape.

This horrible crime has shaken the tight-knight community that normally feels very safe. The couple are receiving medial treatment at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, while investigators determine how the intruder gained access to the gated community. Some believe he came through the backyard, which backs onto a main roadway.
