Local Golfer Takes Home State Title

A local high school student has made quite an impression on the golf scene.

Trevor Lewis, a student at BASIS Prescott, took home first place and a state individual title on May 5 at the Canyon Athletic Association state golf championships. Held at the Grand Canyon University Golf Course in Phoenix, this event brought together the top golfers in the state.

Lewis achieved a score of 3-under par 68, securing him the championship win. Meanwhile, the BASIS Prescott team finished fourth overall with a 374 stroke score. Boylan Gentry came in second within the team with anĀ 87 (+16), while Aja Shaw enjoyed a third place finish with a 107 (+36).

BASIS Peoria came in second in the race for the overall team title with a 363 par score, bested by American Leadership Academy’s score of 337.

Lewis was followed in the standings by Jarrett Fultz of ALA in second place with a 3-over par 74. Trinity Christian’s R.J. Colonel came in third with a 77 (+6), while Ken Tokumitsu, a student at Verde Valley School, captured a fourth place finish overall with an 82 (+11).
