Learn How to Can Fruits and Veggies at Home!

Are you interested in canning your own fruits and veggies at home? Don’t miss this week’s Introduction to Home Canning class, presented by Food Family Health and Wellness and The University of Arizona Yavapai County Cooperative Extension.

On Tuesday, May 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, participants will meet at 840 Rodeo Drive (Building C) in Prescott for an evening of learning and laughter.

This informative workshop will cover canning basics and safety procedures for fruits, vegetables, pickles, jellied products, proteins and more. This includes appropriate canning methods for various foods, proper packing procedures, altitude adjustments, head space and processing times.

Attendees will also learn how and when to use water baths and pressure canners to preserve foods at home. All participants will take home a copy of the Complete Guide to Home Canning, a 196-page, color, spiral-bound recipe and resource book. Please keep in mind this isn’t a hands-on canning class, but more so a prerequisite for a hands-on class.

Spots are limited, so pre-registration is key. There is a non-refundable fee of $25 to cover class expenses. Please call 928-445-6590 x221 (extension) to register.
